Forest Interactive Serves Up Hot Meals for Deepavali

In celebration of the Festival of Lights, Forest Interactive banded talents together to organize a hearty meal for the residents of Persatuan Warga Tua dan Kanak-kanak Wilayah Persekutuan. The internal CSR campaign called on talent volunteers to assist with meal packing and delivery as well as fundraised for the home’s daily necessities.

Located in Taman Petaling, Kepong, the home provides shelter to 35 children and 10 senior citizens and strives to foster a safe space that protects them from social ills such as gangsterism, homelessness and poverty.

Volunteers gathered at Forest Interactive’s HQ on Friday, 12 November 2021 to eagerly pack 45 meals of fragrant chicken biryani and the accompanying side dishes into individual servings. With the aim of creating greater impact, all meals were sourced from social enterprise Masala Wheels, which works to empower marginalized communities through sustainable entrepreneurial F&B initiatives.

“As far as festivities goes, there is nothing quite like a good homecooked meal,” said Tassya Bainon, Public Affairs Liaison. “As Malaysians, cultural celebrations and great food come hand in hand, the idea behind the campaign is to extend this same joy to a person in need and having talents be hands on with the process was a great exercise for charity and empathy.”

Additionally, funds raised from Forest Interactive’s generous talents were used to purchase necessities such as rice, milk powder, cooking oil and shampoo to aid the home during these trying times.
