Forest Interactive Continues to Support the Temuan Indigenous Community During Trying Times

By December 8, 2021No Comments

KUALA LUMPUR: Reaching out for the second consecutive year after the first #ForestCares initiative last year, Forest Interactive continues its effort to empower the indigenous community at Desa Temuan in Damansara Perdana, Selangor, by extending a helping hand once again to provide support and relief amidst the ongoing pandemic.

In September 2021, a total of 147 families in the area received hand sanitizers and face masks, to help them in remaining equipped and protected against the COVID-19 virus.

Sheena Pimentel, Head of Corporate PR at Forest Interactive, said: “Forest Interactive is all about reaching out, touching lives, and ensuring equal access for the betterment of the community. We feel the need to create a meaningful relationship with the residents at Desa Temuan through sustainable initiatives and by playing an active role in giving back to the community.”

Back To School: Sparking Future Innovators at Tabika Kemas

But Forest Interactive didn’t stop there. School closures due to the pandemic have brought significant disruptions to education across Malaysia. As schools in the Klang Valley started reopening in October 2021, Forest Interactive donated essential healthcare items, everyday school supplies, and gardening equipment to help reopen and facilitate the operations at Tabika Kemas Desa Temuan, a community kindergarten.

With the goal of shaping future innovators in a fast-changing world, Forest Interactive hosted a group poster-making activity with the students, aged 4 to 6, to introduce them to parts of a computer and modern-day electronic devices.

This activity aimed to help children prepare for a future where they can thrive with technology, a key focus of Forest Interactive’s commitment to developing future innovators through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. A total of 10 volunteers from Forest Interactive were there to interact with the students during the poster-making activity.

“We are delighted to play a part in the reopening of Tabika Kemas Desa Temuan not only by way of donations but also in developing future tech innovators. In this digital era, there is an urgent need for children to be exposed to technology and all its forms at a young age and we hope our activity today was successful in sparking the interest and curiosity for tech in these young minds,” said Tassya Bainon, Public Affairs Liaison at Forest Interactive.

Saplings such as ambarella, allamanda cathartica, jasmine, and okra were planted around the kindergarten compound to beautify the space and create a nature-friendly ambiance.

This initiative by Forest Interactive hit three key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): No Poverty, Quality Education, as well as Good Health and Well-Being.

Together, let’s make the world a better place! #BetterTogether
