KUALA LUMPUR: Digital News Asia (DNA) continues to champion various new and fun forms of technologies by holding its first Digerati50 Omniverse networking event, this time with Johary Mustapha as part of the session on September 23, 2022.

Joined by DNA’s own group of tech leaders, entrepreneurs, and 10 corporate C-level leaders, Johary and the other tech leaders experienced the virtual world using both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) features during the get-together event.

Digerati50 consists of a group of entrepreneurs that Digital News Asia editors have pinpointed to be contributors to progressively and independently structure Malaysia’s digital economy. In honor of the 10th Anniversary of DNA and with the contributions from Experiential Design Team, a KL-based XR agency, four virtual reality majors from Multimedia University and Fusionex International as sponsor, DNA organized the immersive omniverse networking event.

Johary Mustapha, CEO of Forest Interactive, initially expressed his interest with the immersive virtual world experience and was excited to see how the experience could play out.

“I was stoked to be a part of this networking event, and using the headsets was very fun too. The design team and interns did a splendid job with designing and configuring two virtual worlds for us to socialize with each other,” said Johary.

Johary also expressed the urge for business organizations to start “playing” in the virtual space, and how Malaysia should be a part of the escalating virtual reality experience and development.

“Metaverse has the potential to be a high-value ecosystem, so this opportunity should not be taken lightly. It is so refreshing to be on a metaverse networking platform for Digerati50. This is a good opportunity for industry leaders to grab, as it can allow experimenting with new technologies, which can in turn, grow Malaysia’s digital economy.” added Johary.

Digital News Asia aims for this omniverse networking session to be a new virtual reality experience for Digerati50 leaders, with the hope the experience could lead to leaders adopting virtual reality into their businesses, as well as to provide space for competitive advantages. Metaverse is set to have a USD 5 trillion (approx. MYR22 trillion) in value by 2030.
